Of things we love

To begin with, we looked at each other during the rally briefing and filled 2nd position in the Kotak contest card. Our reason, well we came 2nd last year. But we were three then, and just two of us this time around. But we believed in ourselves and dived in!! Move to the rally day. Just as we were flagged off, all the anxiety vanished and hard work began. The juggling between road book, calculations, sipping water, munching something and trying to enjoy the drive too (which we did not get an opportunity to) kept us occupied all through the 8-9 hours of the day 1. At Ganpati Pule I felt too fatigued and sick, too sick to even ask my partner how she felt though I could see that she was frozen in a driving position! But having a doctor as your partner is a boon, she gave me one of those magic pills and I wanted to explore the beaches of Ganpati Pule in no time.

Day 2 morning, we were made to feel like celebrities in the breakfast room. We had not checked our mails and were told by others that we were on 4th position in the day 1 results! Wow! Let's work harder and get into the top 3, was our mission then and we did start with that conviction and belief. The Secret by Rhonda Byrne works! The book we both swear by! Fastened our seat belts and believed in ourselves, terribly missed our third partner who couldn't join in this year and moved on. Flagged off, and bidding adieu to the beautiful holy town we headed to Goaaa. More beautiful routes here, picturesque Ratnagiri, mango orchards, ocean, beaches, bridges, coconut trees, everything too breathtaking, but we had to perform well today with not much scope of errors. So we were busy with our usual jugglings and TC after TC reached our final "rally ends here" mark. We knew we had done a good job but still had another 100 odd kms to go to the finish point. First car to enter the stadium, surprising the team there which was still lazing around and not expecting the first car before another 45 minutes or so. Used this opportunity to take some fabulous pictures with our super hero- our car! (Hey, but where is the photographer who promised to share those pictures later? ). A job done well, and the comfort of a nice clean bed awaited us at the resort, but some fish curry rice before that.

I didn't sleep too well that night, out of anxiety I guess. Woke up at 3:30 am and kept staring at my sleeping partner (I had read somewhere that when you stare at someone sleeping, they receive your vibes and wake up). But that theory is wrong, don't believe everything you read. She didn't even move leave alone waking up. But the ruthless doc startled me out of my late-arrived-sleep at 6 am and shared the result. Take a guess, we won the Kotak prize too!
